Susan and I will be taking an exclusive group of design addicts on our Everyday Extraordinary  Provence tour May 16 – 23, 2017 for a remarkable week of textiles + design; oh and of course, food + wine!

We’re staying in the heart of Provence in the Allpilles – home to restaurants, shops, open air markets, artist gites. Our home away at home is a beautifully decorated retreat near one of France’s most beautiful villages in the heart of Provence. Our home away from home for this week features stunning views, wonderful indoor and outdoor living spaces, a heated pool, wi-fi, and so much more! Single occupancy.

This stunning property is situated in a splendid environment, 700m away from the center of Saint-Etienne-du-Grès, in the very heart of the Alpilles. Its very romantic gardens, tennis court, shaded park on 5 ha of land. The country house whose foundations date back to the 13 century were built on and added to until the 17th century. Fully restored and decorated with taste, the ground floor offers large reception rooms : large lounge with fire place and piano, large tv room and its library, kitchen fully equipped opening over a shaded terrace, large dining room. Upstairs there are six bedrooms all with ensuite baths.

Our itinerary doesn’t have your ordinary tourist stops (feel free to explore those on your own) we have curated excursions and destinations on our Provence tour custom made for your creative eye. After all, Provence is where artists, writers and design creatives get their inspiration. We have crafted what we think is the perfect blend of Group Time and Alone Time. Some of the activities you’ll enjoy :

  • Explore the markets of Provence—the antiques at Isle sur la Sorgue plus Provençal delights at other local daily markets.
  • A full day in Lyon—the most famous silk city in France—with a complete overview of silk fabric and passementerie design and production, plus a private, guided tour to one of the world’s top drapery and upholstery workrooms.
  • A guided tour to one of the only remaining producers of historic Indiennes—the colorful fabrics that are so closely identified with Provence.
  • Indulge your senses—scent, taste, sight and touch— with visits to renowned regional producers.
  • Guided wine and olive oil tastings.
  • Treasure hunting at world class brocantes.
  • Create your own scent at the venerable perfumerie – Galimard in Grasse.
  • Private visits and trunk shows to textile dealers and collectors.
  • Private Woad fiber dyeing workshop at our bastide

8 days/7 nights in the heart of Provence. Our home base is an authentic Provencal Mas with all the amenities. (Super-convenient location and we’ve thoroughly vetted the property and love it!)

The Fine Print

* TRAVEL: Travel costs to/from Avignon, the start of our Provence tour, from your home location are not included. Train travel in Europe is very reliable and convenient, and is the most likely the best option for arriving to Avignon. Once you have determined your city of arrival and departure, we will be happy to assist you with scheduling your Avignon TGV schedule. Please call for information.

*AIRFARE- Air transportation to and from Europe is the responsibility of the participant. You will need to be in Provence from Tuesday, May 16, 2017 to Tuesday, May 23, 2017. Please arrange your flights accordingly. Private transportation to and from Avignon TGV train station is included. We will provide information on transfers by no later than May 1, 2017. 

* TRAVEL INSURANCE is not included in the cost of the tour. You are strongly advised to arrange this cover at the time of paying your deposit to protect you against loss of deposit and/or final payment; injury, medical expenses, loss of baggage and personal effects etc.

* PASSPORT, VISA: Passport and appropriate re‐entry visas according to government requirements at the time of travel are required. All pre‐travel documentation is the passenger’s responsibility. It should be finalized one month before departure. For the purposes of a short trip (less than 90 days), valid passports are required from every country for entry into France. Visas are not required for visitors from the United States and several other countries. Please note your United States passport must be valid and NOT EXPIRE prior to six months after your return to the US from France.

* A NON‐REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT of  $750.00 deposit by March 15, 2017.  Balance due as follows:  $3000.00 due April 15, 2017 and balance of  $1048.00 due on or by May 1, 2017. 

*CANCELLATION FEES – As this is a private group tour it is important for you to have Travel Insurance to protect yourself against this eventuality as Deb Barrett and Susan Schultz cannot guarantee any refunds at all after your payment has been made. Please note: Refunds are not made for cancellation of any services which are not used by you due to late arrivals, early departures, or by choice.

Cancellations – The deposit is non-refundable; 90 days prior to tour date – 50% non-refundable; 30 days prior to tour date – 100% non-refundable. Cancellation within 30 days or less will result in forfeiture of the entire cost of the tour. Trip cancellation insurance is strongly advised; medical insurance is required.

*PRICE ADJUSTMENT – While every effort will be made to avoid doing this; Deb Barrett and Susan Schultz reserve the right to adjust prices due to factors outside our control, such as fuel costs, airline surcharges of any kind, taxes and other costs or exchange rates on which prices are based. Where exchange rate fluctuations occur of more than 2.5%, or any other increases in the price of services provided which are beyond our control, then Deb Barrett and Susan Schultz reserve the right to adjust package prices accordingly, up to and including the day of departure of your itinerary, even though the balance of payment may have been made. Acceptance of this arrangement is a condition of booking.

*HOLIDAY DURATION – the number of days shown in the itinerary include the days of ARRIVAL in Avignon, and the final day in Provence after breakfast; neither are whole days.

*CHANGES IN ITINERARY–Deb Barrett and Susan Schultz reserve the right to deviate from the itinerary should circumstances require, and to substitute venues with those of an equal standing or tariff. Deb Barrett and Susan Schultz will not be responsible and exclude liability for loss or damage to the tour member outside their control, including but not limited to any act or omission, cancellation, delay, diversion, injury, loss or damage occasioned to the tour member of his/her property by air carriers, accommodation providers, transportation providers or any other providers of services to the tour member.

*HEALTH AND FITNESS FOR TRAVEL – The tour member warrants to Deb Barrett and Susan Schultz that he/she is reasonably healthy and/or fit to participate in the tour and indemnifies Deb Barrett and Susan Schultz from all actions, claims and demands arising from any want of health or fitness. Deb Barrett and Susan Schultz reserve the right to terminate the tour member’s participation in the tour should the tour member be too ill or unfit in their opinion to continue the tour.

A LATE BOOKING FEE of $200 will apply to all bookings made, confirmed and documented less than two weeks prior to departure from the United States. OUR PRICES are inclusive of the cost of research of our travel products, arranging, booking and confirming travel services. They also take into account the extensive costs involved in communications to book arrangements on your behalf and the subsequent transfer of payment of such, brochure production, marketing and advertising. No representation is made by us to imply that similar product may or may not be obtained at a lower price. This booking form on the first page must be signed above and sent back with your payment and details form for our records.

Deb Barrett, and her agents in regard to travel, assume no liability for injury, damage, loss, accident, delay, or irregularity which may be occasioned, either by reason of defect in any vehicle, or through the acts of default of any company or person engaged in conveying the passenger or in carrying out the arrangements of the tour. They can accept no responsibility for losses or additional expenses due to delay or changes in services, sickness, weather, strikes, war, terrorist action, quarantine or other causes. All such losses or expenses will have to be borne by the participant as tour rates provide for arrangements only for the times stated. The right is reserved to substitute a hotel of similar quality. The right is reserved to make minor changes in the itinerary, and the right is reserved to cancel the tour prior to departure, in which case a full refund will constitute full settlement to the passenger. No refund will be made for any unused portion of the tour. Susan Schultz and Deb Barrett will be in regular contact with tour participants before we go to Provence; a full range of pre-trip information will be provided.

Fitness requirement: participants must be able to climb stairs easily and walk up to 2‐3 miles with ease during guided tours and picnic walks.
