New! CEU Seminars

UPDATE: More good news! We just received approval on two other seminars: Master Class: Lessons from Design Giants and  Custom Window Coverings Safety Standards- What They Mean to You. Here’s a sneak peek.

Master Class: Lessons from the Design Giants
There’s an old adage: “If you’re going to borrow, be sure to borrow from the best.” Discover the eccentricities and exuberance of Tony Duquette, the unstudied elegance of Sibyl Colefax, the surprising boldness of Dorothy Draper and many others. You’ll see some of their trademark design elements and learn how to incorporate these classic concepts into your designs. We’ll dissect Design Icons through their style philosophies and uncover what links them to their stylistic heirs. There is no better place to look for inspiration then to study the trade secrets of the greats like John Fowler, Sister Parish, Billy Baldwin, David Hicks, Elsie de Wolfe, Syrie Maugham and more.
Custom Window Coverings Safety Standards- What They Mean to You.
In September 2010 the Window Coverings Manufacturers Association announced a new set of safety standards (2nd Provisional ANSI/WCMA A100.1-2010 AMERICAN NATIONAL STANDARD FOR SAFETY OF CORDED WINDOW COVERING PRODUCTS) for ALL corded window treatments—mini blinds, Roman shades, draw draperies, etc. The objective of the Standard is to provide requirements for corded window covering products that reduce the possibility of injury from any type of device used to operate the product. The Standard has gone to ballot and is expected to be approved in early 2012. This has far-reaching effects for any interior designer, architect or specifier who directly or through a sub-contractor specifies window treatments. Learn the implications of the new standards for your business—how to comply, how to properly specify, the language to use with past and current clients. Formulate a window coverings safety policy for your business. Finally, discover the inherent opportunities in all new product categories at the window.
