Everyday Extraordinary United Kingdom

June 5 – 15, 2018

Mark your calendar for our Town and Country U.K. tour June 5-15, 2018. Consider this trip to be a combination of our Paris & Provence/Venice tours—we have a great hotel in London and a “country estate” while in Scotland. Public transportation in London, but we’ll be your drivers in Scotland. It’s the best of both options in a region we’ve been eager to share with everyone. Discover first-hand some of the U.K.’s design resources, including both heritage brands and best-in-class innovators.

This tour is a mix of old and new, fashion and interiors, wall coverings and fabric, big brands and independents, producers and “thought producers”, etc.

A neighborhood steeped in sophistication, Mayfair is bounded by iconic Hyde Park to the west and ultra-trendy West End to the east,  Green Park  along its boundary and in its center-Grosvenor Square. It is bordered on the west by Park Lane, north by Oxford Street, east by Regent Street, and the south by Piccadilly. Our hotel, the Sheraton Park Lane, is across Piccadilly from Green Park and a short stroll to Buckingham Palace, St. James and the Royal Mews. London’s most attractive shopping area is right at our  doorstep at  Explore department stores such as Selfridges, Liberty London and Fenwick on Bond street. Discover the British designer lined streets of Mount street, Bond street and Regent street for a taste of true British style. Get lost in the history of world-renowned Savile Row.  Oh but there is more— Mayfair is also home to numerous galleries, which has given it a reputation as an international art hub. We are centrally located so we’ll hop on the underground to most of our appointments.

Edenside House is close to renowned Lower and Middle Tweed fishing beats and just a gentle wander from the charming cobbled Market Square of Kelso. Hidden away at the end of a leafy drive in a substantial private garden, the elegant proportions of this six bedroom Georgian townhouse with open fire and classic period styling is a warm and welcoming gathering place. The house sits in 1.85 acres of lawned garden flanked by large coniferous and deciduous trees for complete privacy and perhaps a spot of croquet on the lawn and an afternoon barbecue on the terrace.

Arranged over three floors, the overall feel is comfortably elegant with generous proportions, working shutters and delightful cornicing offset by quality furnishings and antique detailing. The period lines of the drawing room and dining room on the ground floor are perfect for entertaining, whilst the Adam style curve of the open plan kitchen is a super spot to sit and contemplate the day ahead cradling a morning coffee as the morning sun filters gently through the trees.
