  • Now that’s a presentation! Combing thru some files while working on my certification course, I came across this photo of William “Billy” Haines making a drapery presentation to a client. William “Billy” Haines was an American actor and interior designer. Known for his impeccable taste in interior design and love for vintage pieces, Haines worked closely many celebrities. His career was launched by his unconventional choice of an all-white decor for his friend, Joan Crawford’s living room.

Haines’ signature style incorporated custom-made modern furnishings and period antiques with touches of Chinoiserie and exotic artifacts in a glamorous mix that would retrospectively become known as Hollywood Regency style. The centerpieces of Haines’ interiors were his custom designs including tufted sofas, iconic chairs –the Seniah, the Elbow, the Pull Up and the Hostess. Haines hired talented local artists, craftsmen and workshops to produce his one of a kind custom pieces specially crafted per client. #loveagoodpresentation #windowdressings #designicon #americanasethetic #hollywoodregency l

  • We’ve all seen our share of window treatment projects we’re not so sure about. The ones that make us shake our heads and ask, “What is this?!?” Scrolling on social media I see bad ideas, misplaced advice, misinformation and just plain stupidness. Do you think you really think that you should hang a drapery using shower rings? Here are 10 common window fashion mistakes and how to avoid them.
#1 Not Dressing the Window

Window treatments often turn into a design challenge or major investment, but let’s face it: If you neglect your windows in favor of a different design focus, you’ll be left with a bare view. Every window needs some kind of dressing. Window fashions fill the blackhole; keep out heat or cold, control sunlight and most importantly finish off the room. After all I am WC pro; so it’s a cardinal sin not to treat windows in some way.
